A listening center will allow students to be exposed to more literacy by listening to a variety of books. Students will also have an opportunity to grow as a reader by following along while listening to a variety of texts. Struggling readers will also have the opportunity to feel like a successful reader by listening to a book that is above their level. Reading will become an enjoyable time versus a time of frustration for the struggling readers. Along with listening, students will be able to manipulate magnetic letters during word study. Students will have hands-on practice forming new vocabulary words and reviewing frequently seen sight words.
