In our diverse school, English language learning is a priority. Book clubs provide the opportunity for more meaningful language learning, increased engagement and leadership opportunities for students. Introducing books to students through book clubs, or literature circles, helps to spark a love a reading while increasing their vocabulary skills. Each group has a book club leader and thus gives a leadership opportunity. The groups will be self-sufficient to promote the growth of responsibility and accountability of each student. "The Dark Rising" is a novel that is incorporated into our Language Arts program, Wonders. This literacy circle will also enrich what we are already completing in our language arts routine. Supply money is extremely short, and there isn't money for books for our classrooms. Your donation will give the gift that keeps on giving because of the impact reading has on students and I can keep using this set year after year.
