Scrabble is a fun, authentic learning tool that develops many skills needed by today's students. Incorporating Scrabble in my reading classes will obviously improve their language proficiencies in word building and spelling, but playing together will have a positive impact in many other areas as well. Skills such as flexible thinking, critical thinking, math, teamwork, and communication will all be improved as kids form words and place them on the board in a strategic manner. Students of all levels will be learning while having fun playing this classic, engaging game in my fifth grade classroom. "Za" for 62 points! :)
