The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are already enthusiastically hoped for by our children. Having stories read to them is a highly sought after treat as much as going outside to play! The students already know exactly where they want everything to go! I told them I was looking into getting them a listening center and they started working out where it would be perfect to put it. The listening center will go in its own learning niche right between the reading and writing area to complete the literacy cycle. There we have a wooden standalone shelve with 4 compartments for the player, earphones, book and CD basket. We just need your help in getting everything into the classroom to get started! The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of the literacy components; impacting their reading stamina, appreciation and comprehension. You will be enabling them to listen to reading, follow story lines, setting, enhance their vocabulary, story flow, voice modulation, and overall enjoy as many stories as their little heart’s desire. It will empower them to go further and reach farther into the enjoyment of reading. Our area is an economically challenged area where most of our parents work more than one job and understand the importance of an education yet have little time and energy to sit and read every day to their young ones. These materials will aide our students in the process of becoming life-long readers, listeners and learners. As a pre-school teacher, I have done extensive research and reading on the impact of having children being read to in the primary grades. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality for our students. Thank you for all your support!
