The majority of my students come from low-income, split homes. Many of them do not have examples of healthy lifestyles at home, nor do they engage in healthy lifestyles. These students tend to continue the trend set at home and continue to make self-harming decisions in their teenage years. Scholastic magazines will provide them with positive stories and helpful informational text. My students need the positive informational articles and stories from Scholastic periodicals that will help them develop a sharpened self-concept, allowing them to make choices that will impact their lives productively and guide them toward making constructive goals. If students are provided with these resources, I can better guide them toward changes and decisions that may affect them constructively their entire lives. This is my hope. This is my plan.
