In these times of Covid, we are not allowed to take students on field trips. However, thanks to the power of VR technology, students can travel the world of today, as well as worlds of days past. I am seeking to apply this technology in my classroom as I teach US and world history. This new Oculus technology allows for students to see places all over the world, and beyond. From seeing the ancient world of Rome, or Egypt, to taking a visit to the International Space Station, VR offers it all. I plan to use this technology to give students that chance to see it all. On top of that, Oculus is an exploding technology that is building its library of software on a constant basis. As many free and cheap packages that it offers, new options become available daily. Right now we are getting into WWII. How amazing would it be to visit the home of Anne Frank!?!? How great would it be to see the beaches of Normandy, or experience Iwo Jima? Seeing is believing, and I want my students to see it all.
