Learning rhythms is the basic fundamental of all music. In Kindergarten, students start music class by learning about keeping a steady beat! Using rhythm sticks is a fun way to learn about the heart of music, which is the beat! All the way through my elementary school music program, there is a lot of emphasis on rhythms and beats. My students love listening to rap and hip hop music, which is very heavy with beats. Many have even expressed interest in becoming musicians in the future! By having these supplies, my students will be able to learn the fundamentals and basics of music: RHYTHM. I have also found that my students enjoy having physical instruments to play. When there is something to work toward and work on, my students have better focus, and show better results when applied to music we play together. It gives the opportunity to practice and apply what has been learned in real time, which helps carry over from week to week!
