The students participate in school music class and weekly music therapy sessions. The growth they have shown by using music has been incredible. By having the QChord in the classroom it will help the students retain information by associating the tune and rhythm with the academic area they are learning about at that time. At the present time, the class uses hand claps or tapping on the table. These skills are basic 2-hand motor tasks but for some of the students, this is too difficult due to motor planning and physical delays. By having a Qchord, the students can begin with a single motion of swiping down to activate the Qchord. This will be a simple reward of cause and effect for the student which is a basic function of learning. I want my students to have every chance to develop their skills in learning. I feel having a musical instrument in the room that they can play will help in building their skills in a way I can not with the materials I have in the classroom.
