A quiet place is something we all could use. My students especially need a place they can turn to when they are feeling overwhelmed, and over stimulated. Often times students with ASD have problematic behavior the rug would give them a place to sit and practice how to calm themselves. The room is a small office attached to the classroom, students are able to go to the room, under adult supervision, sit on a bean bag, or oversized pillow. Students will then use calm down procedures until they are ready to come back to classroom. This would make it a safe learning environment for all students and adults in the classroom.
