Second graders learn all about community and begin to understand the importance of learning from each other. They feel acceptance being included in class meetings and want their voices to be heard. An inviting, colorful carpet will be a place where they feel safe and able to voice their opinions without judgement. The curriculum calls for multiple daily gatherings, not including teacher initiated meetings. Second graders still struggle to sit still and keep their hands to themselves. A carpet will help the room feel more inviting, give each student their own space and provide a comfortable place to sit still while curriculum is being presented.
