I teach at a K-8 charter school that has much diversity. There are students from many different ethnic backgrounds, 58% of them receive free or reduced lunch, English is the second language for 50% of the students, and 17% of them have Individual Education Plans. These same students also do not have a library, so resources that students in other schools take for granted, my students do not have. This obstacle makes it difficult for them to find reading materials that strike their interest.
