In today's ever-changing world, many students experience significant anxiety and stress that impedes their learning. Finding creative ways to alleviate these emotions is paramount to the learning environment. By funding this project, my classroom will contain everything a child needs to feel safe and relaxed. A diffuser for essential oils will allow me to add a pleasant, calming scent to the air. Chair bands for every desk give the children an opportunity for movement while remaining seated. Different coloring books and markers provide a wonderful retreat for students to refocus and relax. When students with autism and auditory disorders become anxious, I can offer them a silent environment with noise canceling headphones. I can also stock a variety of tactile stress balls and fidget cubes to allow them to remain focused during instruction.
