These items will be utilized in the counseling office as fidget tools, stress relievers, and pieces to enhance discussion. This will help students be able to remove barriers that are distracting their minds and hopefully allow them to focus more intently in the classroom. The tools and items can also improve social skills, decrease anxiety, and enhance a students feeling of comfort when meeting with the school counselor. For instance, I have one bubble timer that was broken, but the students loved to flip it over time and time again while staring at it and discussing with me the situation that is bothering them. I cannot express how many times students with major pressing issues have grabbed a stress ball or molded a manipulative to help reduce the stress and anxiety of discussing a difficult topic. All of these products would be beneficial and available to each and every student in our school as they would be displayed in my counseling office.
