Each student has an opportunity to learn from a reading lesson by participating in activities related to a topic. When students change the same lesson to a language other than their first language, they try to follow instructions and comprehend the content they must learn in a World Language such as Spanish. Staying engaged in a lesson increases their language proficiency. Individual learning tools such as a dry erase board will enable a student to participate, along with classmates, by instantly responding to questions related to a reading passage. The teacher may request individual responses during class discussion or choral responses at times, yet a dry erase board keeps each student accountable for instant responses. Additional tools such as markers, reference guides, and wall posters enhance a student's ability to learn proficiency through reading and storytelling.
