Have you ever entered a classroom where the kids don't stop working to see who just came in the door? Have you ever heard a student say, "Whoa, that was fun" about a lesson? That is a kind of classroom I strive to provide for my school kids each day. A classroom so fun, smart and engaging that each child is engrossed in his/her learning. New technology is powerful to young minds and paired along with small group instruction helps to foster individual learning to bring each child in a classroom into his/her best light. In today's world we are required to not only know the answers but describe and explain our thinking. The Osmo kits will provide my students with the ability to learn at his/her level and show his/her knowledge using hands on activities and technology. The Fire tablets and Osmo kits will foster thinking outside of the worksheet by using number bonds, equation and puzzles and help each student use past knowledge to bridge the gap to new knowledge. I want my students to know how to do the work that I ask of them. Each students needs to know how to do worksheets, complete work and do well on tests. However, they need vital tools to really understand how to approach problems and classroom tasks. In my classroom, we will use these tools in our small group instruction time to foster critical thinking. I want each student I teach to be able to apply his or her knowledge to the world around them. In order to be successful today, we need students that can think for themselves, are motivated to learn and use the knowledge that they have to push forward to become better people.
