What is cheese, anyway? And why are the French so obsessed? An important part of language learning is experiencing authentic resources such as food, art, and music in order to increase student buy-in. In this fun and informative lesson, my French classes will learn where and how cheeses are made while sampling unique fromages and authentic baguettes. Surprisingly, French cheese is a great way to learn French geography! Each region has a traditional fromage. Students will taste Le Petit Brie, Epiosses, Sevre et Belle Bucherondin, Prugne St. Nectaire, Papillon Roquefort, and Comte. My students will use comparisons (an ACTFL standard) to explore the differences in the dairy products they eat at home and the dairy products eaten in France.
