This year I had a large number of students sign-up for Photography 1. Giving high school students a chance to express their ideas and passion with a camera is an incredible experience. Currently, our department has a limited supply of cameras accessible to students, which leaves us to work in groups. Students are not getting the camera time they need for practice and projects, it would be incredibly helpful if we had more cameras. We are hoping to receive 2 Canon Rebels, which is a beginning level DSLR camera. This would reduce the number of students per group, allowing each individual student more time with the cameras. In Photo 1 and Photo 2 we learn the technical skills we need to work the cameras, the conceptual side of photography which gives students the opportunity to self-express and convey deeper meaning and also provides the opportunity to document and communicate.
