Flexible seating is imperative for students who are reading and writing to feel comfortable while they work. Students have been working from home and now must return to the classroom. Flexible seating allows them choice, comfort, community, collaboration, sensory input, and finally, fun! We are building literacy stamina and comfort is important to achieve our goals. When I read or write, I'm sitting in a comfortable chair or on my couch; this allows the same choice in my classroom. I'm hoping to give them all of these options as they practice becoming stronger authors and readers.
