Our students now have a year under their belts as a team in the First Lego League! Last fall when we announced to nearly a hundred 4th and 5th graders that our school would be having a Robotics Team, it was received with an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm and interest, better than we had anticipated. However, that created a bit of a problem for the coaches... we would only be able to have one team of ten students. That was quite a challenge selecting those ten students, but even more difficult was seeing the disappointment of those who were not able to participate because of this constraint. Our vision for the coming school year is to provide the opportunity of being a FLL team member to more of our deserving students. We can make this happen by having more resources available for building robots, access to additional EV3 kits and Chromebooks would open up the possibilities in order to increase student involvement. As coaches we are considering adding a second team at our school. Another interesting solution is establishing a “JV” team, which our seasoned members could mentor and prepare this group for competition the following year. We are all about learning through the FLL Core Values, the more hands on opportunities our students have will without a doubt encourage these values. Our kids are ready to soar and with your donation you will be providing them with the opportunity to be part of our FLL Team. Many thanks for considering us!
