These materials will not only improve our Readers Theater experiences, but they will extend our reading into more writing practice. Students can write their own scripts through collaboration and creativity. These scripts can include both creative fictional stories and non-fictional social studies stories. This will lead to students being able to teach each other through their theater scripts. For example, my 4th graders are currently learning about early immigration to the United States. They have studied Ellis Island and Angels Island. If our classroom had this puppet set and puppet supplies, the 4th graders could create scripts that show the similarities and differences between the two experiences.
