Maps are referenced daily to convey important information and relationships. The insight gleaned from this extra dimension of ‘place’ opens doors to new knowledge and skills. Unfortunately, the maps I currently use, that are pinned to our classroom bulletin boards, are not easily accessible to students. Our maps take up important wall space, students cannot see them from where there are sitting, nor can they interact with them up close. Fourth grade students are expected to make many references to maps as they learn about physical and human geographic features that define places and regions in California, as well as their state's economic, social, and political life. Students learn the story of California and its relationship to the nation and the world. This three-map set, which I am requesting, can easily be read from across the room. The maps can be marked with erasable pens, which allows my students to reference and interact them. Thank you for helping us make our learning much more accessible!
