My small size classes are getting bigger throughout the year as new students arrive. We once fit comfortably around a small circular table, but now students are crowding closely. I can teach them more effectively if I can sit on one side and face all students in the group at once at a horseshoe type table. These students are learning English for the first time and benefit from close attention to support their needs. At this table, I can model correct English and listen attentively to their production of oral language. This will help them progress more quickly, and lead them towards academic success.
