Physical education is one area of the school day where students must have the proper equipment to be able to participate in the targeted standards. Kicking, rolling, hopping, striking, balancing, jumping and dancing are just a few of those skills that will be executed during P.E. How can students learn and practice these skills without the proper equipment? By fully funding our project, donors will enable me to maximize the time students remain active and provide us with the mats needed to stretch, roll and tumble and the equipment needed to dribble, kick, strike and hit. We must have enough equipment so that we do not have a large number of students waiting to participate in activities. With 29 students and 3 balls, students tend to have lots of waiting time to practice the targeted standards. Without the necessary equipment, we struggle to teach all the standards. How do you teach a student how to strike a ball with a bat off of a tee when we have no ball, bat, or tee? With your generosity and help, I look forward to providing my students with the fun activities and coordination skills that physical education standards are designed to teach.
