I have selected the most requested titles from a student survey: the Diary of the Wimpy Kid series, 39 clues, Dork Diaries, I Survived, Cinder, the Heroes of Olympus, and Big Nate. I have also included a few books in Spanish for our English Language Learners. Our goal is for every student to have a Just Right Book, an independent reading book on their level, in their backpack at all times. Books in my classroom are always available to students for checkout. We are working to create a community of readers who always have a book they love and are working on a list of great titles. Life long readers grow into adults who can take on any career and any challenge. We know that books are investment that directly impacts our students' futures.
