One of the major challenges my students face is their disabilities impeding their learning compared with typically developing children. Half of the population in my class are under the umbrella of autism and half are experiencing significant delays caused by several disabilities. They to listen to stories and they are motivated to learn how to read independently. Most of them are visual learners and having this modality of learning requires a lot of visual supports and moderate need for auditory support. Our school lies in a very friendly environment in California. It is close to everything that accommodates their community based instruction and thoroughly develop their social skills. I also have some students who are English Language learners who benefit in highly visual learning support that generalizes what they already know about total language learning.
