One of the biggest challenges educators face today is convincing students to keep their phones away. I could have my students put their phones in "phone jail," but that is a negative thing in the mind of a student. I would prefer that students charge their phones in an acceptable location so that we can then, as a class, charge their brains. With phones away, students learn more. They will be engaged and focused on their lessons. I believe this would make the difference between a power struggle and a student excited to come to class... even if it is to charge their phone! Once I have their attention, I can get them prepared for their STAAR test.
