I am working towards building a Makerspace in the high school library. We have a wonderful space which is seldom used because of the out-of-date technology and little inclination to use the library. I want to offer technology that opens up the door to creativity, especially for the students that don't have access to it at home. This is why I am requesting 3D pens for building models of things they imagine, Makey Makey for creative interaction with computers and Littlebits for making gadgets that work. All of this will be available in a space where students are free to try things and make mistakes which is a great way to learn. Imagination and creativity lead to innovation. Our future is in need of students who have been taught it's good to think outside the box and given opportunities to do so.
