The City of Ember is a book that will engage my students' attention and keep them asking thought provoking questions about what they would do in a similar situation. I want to teach this book to my students because I want them to think of other possibilities of how life could look and expand their current habits of thinking. Hopefully using this book will teach them the value of appreciating what they have. A lot of students here have come from a comfortable home life and struggle to empathize with others that have less than they do. I think The City of Ember is a great book that will show them what life can be like for kids who aren't as lucky as they are to grow up in the circumstances that they currently live in.
