Our school has two enclosed courtyard spaces where currently it is a graveyard for unwanted or broken down classroom furniture. The materials we are requesting would help us transform one of the spaces into a mindfulness garden where we can host restorative circles, take part in gratitude practices and small group sessions for mindfulness and yoga. The benches will be used for regular student/counselor meetings. The space has so much potential to help foster growth in our students and staff, if only we can reclaim and change it into a useful space instead of a storage yard. The East Bay area has approximately 280 days of sunshine a year; for this reason alone we decided to use the outdoor courtyard space for mindfulness practices.
