With the influx of technology in our culture, it only makes sense that technology has become a huge component of the modern day classroom. Today, I am asking for the ability to include all of my students in the use of technology in the classroom by funding an iPad and a protective case (because they're kids). Giving my students the ability to use technology in the classroom will allow for their literacy skills to improve. There are so many useful online resources that students cannot access and thrive within unless they are able to log into a device and actually practice. In an environment where technology is king and good-old reading takes the back seat, the combination of the two will help entice a reluctant reader to find their niche and soar above and beyond their own expectations. In general, having an extra device is my classroom will allow me to help individualize instruction, provide extra opportunities for literacy improvement, and keep students without devices from feeling isolated or excluded. Please consider helping my students improve their reading skills by supporting our cause.
