We are a diverse school with 35 percent African-American students, 35-Hispanic, and 30 percent white. About 55 percent of the students are on free and reduced lunch. The school is only five years old and it's the fifth high school in the district. There are currently 2400 students int he school and it's expected to grow to 3200 in the next few years. The students in journalism mirror the diversity in the school. They have put together award-winning newsmagazines and yearbooks since the very first year. They have competed with larger, older and more affluent schools and won.
