A color printer may seem like a basic item in most workplaces, but they can be hard to come by in schools. In order to provide an enriching environment for my students, it is important that they can see labels and pictures in color. I passionately desire for my students to develop a love for learning- specifically about the critters and world around them. The "toys" that I placed in my project are very hands-on and age-appropriate for my students, and will help them to practice fine-motor, critical thinking, and observation skills while still having fun "playing." For this reason, there are many science/STEM based activities in my project; for example, materials that focus on animals, building, life cycles, x-rays, and more. I want my students to feel confident as little scientists and mathematicians, even if they are only preschoolers. If I can instill a love for learning, creating, and a respect for living things at this young of an age, then I feel confident that it will have an effect on their future success as professionals and as world citizens. Preschoolers learn through play, so it is important that I, as a teacher, make their play meaningful. I hope that you, too see the importance of quality materials for a preschool classroom. Many of my students have already experienced hardships that many adults could not imagine having endured as a child. They deserve the very best in their classroom.
