I am the Team Leader for a Professional Learning Community that incorporates all of the senior English teachers in a school of over 3000 students. We want to use our time wisely but have zero budget for resources to further our growth as educators. We meet twice a week to learn how to better meet the needs of our students, and having interesting and applicable texts will facilitate the growth of our 900 students. The texts were selected by educators within the PLC as reading that would be interesting and relevant to what they want to learn. Often in education, teachers are reluctant to spend money on professional development that is certainly beneficial. The teachers in this group have been teaching from two years to over two decades.
