These sensory items are important to help students control and focus the sensory inputs that surround them in the school setting. Pressure vests and stability chairs can give a proprioceptive input which provides a calming input in the classroom setting. Through the use of the stability chairs the children’s attention is now redirected to focus on what is occurring in classroom. The use of the weighted pencil set and noise cancelling headphones can also be used to give a deep pressure input to develop and assist in the fine motor difficulties the students present with to increase overall handwriting ability. Even though each student has their own specific needs, the use of these items will help their ability to succeed and participate in the school environment.
