In designing interior curtains with embedded lighting, students will experience new design trends and learn basic electrical circuitry. Students will have an opportunity to showcase their design styles by competing in a house creation project for individuals with special needs. Students will learn how to create a complete circuit and to bring enhanced lighting to a room for someone with special needs. Sewing skills will also be learned as students create their own curtain design with embedded LED lights. Many housing projects will be created in the new Interior Design class and learning how to make living areas compliant with special needs is one of the areas I'd like to teach students. Technology can be used to enhance simple things like lighting for those who need extra assistance in their living spaces.
