I am requesting classroom sets of Tiger Rising and Number the Stars. We use both books as mentor texts within our units of study. These books are part of our new reading curriculum that engage students to dig deeper into character traits, actions, and motivation. It is more engaging for students to listen during a read aloud when they can have their own copy in their hands. It allows my students to follow along while I read, notice text features, and find evidence within the text to support their thinking. Comprehension increases and students have deeper and richer conversations.
