The technology needed to confidently video-conference with folks who were there when history was being made is something that no textbook can really teach with the same impact of humanity! Through video-conferencing my students will be able to visit with not only those who were there but also expert historians, archaeologists, journalists and other professionals who may be onsite and can give critical references to the curriculum we are studying in the classroom. With funding for field trips being limited, this technology will make allow us as a classroom to join the historical site and be apart of those conversations without leaving our classroom as well as also avail our collected resources to look at history from a myriad of points of views. We are in need of reliable video-conferencing technology, specifically the microphone and streaming capability it will allows as well as a webcam and the surround sound speakers, which together will accommodate conversations between the students in the classroom and folks easily and comfortably where each side of the conversation can be easily understood within the classroom setting.
