These Scholastic Action magazines will help engage my students in the act of reading for information, finding relevance in the world around them, and staying current. These magazines provide the students with high interest topics at a reading level they can feel successful. My students are reading at an elementary grade level, but are interested in topics at a high school level. Traditionally, materials that are at a 2nd to 3rd grade level come with topics for 2nd to 3rd grade readers. High School students do not want to be reading about cats and dogs or cartoons. They want to be reading about social interactions, world events, hot topics, and so on. The Scholastic Actions magazines provides my students with age-appropriate materials that helps me teach them the necessary skills for being a proficient reader.
