Students will work in teams or individually with the teacher on skills that maybe a weakness or need more focusing on to help them zero-in on a skill to bring it to the forefront. Students have to know Idioms, Multiple-Meaning Words, Homophones, and especially Vocabulary. Students love competing against each other in games to try and win while actually learning. They love when they can beat the teacher as well. We have a daily reading contest. Class vs. class, student vs. student and each month I announce a class and individual winner. My students know that to be successful in life you must be able to read. As Reading Detectives, we have the world available to us by breaking words apart, decoding them, defining them and discovering their story. My students want to go out into the world and read everyone their own story. Thank you for considering our Class of Detectives
