My students need quality literature that still relates to their lives. This book has been highly recommended by the district literacy coach and I would love to be able to share it with my students. This story of a minority teenager in the Southern United States and the challenges she and her family overcome will speak to my students as they see themselves in her struggles. Most of my students do not have literature at home and they need rich reading experiences at school. The teacher's guide will enable me to be more effective at enriching their experience. Please help!
