My students would love to have a 9x12 carpet in our classroom. They are a group of 5th graders that enjoy doing lots of work on the floor... whether it be partner or silent reading, working on the chromebooks, taking part in a Math center, or listening to me read a story to them. Although my students love working on the floor, having a carpet in the classroom that all of my students can fit on will really make thier learning a lot more comfortable for them as opposed to sitting on the bare floor. Allowing my students to have choice in the room, whether it be working at a desk, at a table or on the floor is something that really works well with how they feel they learn best. It also provides them with movement opportunities throughout the day. It will also be the perfect spot for us to hold our daily morning meetings. There are many benefits to having a larger carpet in our classroom!
