Student engage with these visual supports to build language skills. My students often have limited experiences and knowledge of animals and other basic nouns, verbs or adjectives. Many of my students never go to a zoo until their 1st grade field trip. They lack the vocabulary to understand the world around them and communicate effectively within the school setting. The Carson-Delosa Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives cards will be used during learning stations in direct speech-language therapy activities. These language cards give the students pictures of items they may not see in their everyday life. It will give me and their teachers a way to introduce new words with meaning and in context. I hope to engage these students in learning about animals with the What Are They Doing? book which will incorporate action verbs and the animal planet together.
