Anyone that knows middle school age kids, knows that they can be pretty rough and tumble. By having high quality headphones for our classroom, we will be able to have equipment that will last more than just a few months. Plus, having microphones connected to the headphones we will be able to engage in multiple audio or computer resources. Students will be able to read along with books that are on audio, which improves fluency and comprehension, while other students will be able to dictate into computers the reading material which allows them to play back their oral reading. Listening to their own oral reading improves decoding and fluency. Other students may be able to listen to music that is a calming or energizing, a tool they can use while writing about what they have read.
