The resources I chose will allow hands-on teaching of living and nonliving components, using the models students build. Students will observe, compare, and interpret the brine shrimp and pond snail ecosystems. They will learn how elodea plants demonstrate the use of energy and carbon dioxide to make food for its own growth, how pond snails use plants as food and oxygen to grow, and the growth of brine shrimp. This is an experience they would never get by simply reading a book or watching a video on YouTube. This will also introduce them to the understanding of life supporting materials such as light, water, food, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The safety goggles, forceps, droppers, and magnifiers will benefit my students in these experiments and future ones too.
