My students need a buddy bench, and vinyl to make a buddy bench sign, in order to create a safe space for students at recess to make new friendships. They also need rocks that will be painted with problem-solving steps in order to give my students the opportunity to solve situations with their peers independently. Students in our school community are very caring, kind, and empathetic kids, but they need visual reminders of how to solve a problem with a peer peacefully, the buddy bench and problem-solving​ rocks with help accomplish this. This buddy bench will create a safe place on our playground for students to work out problems, and begin new friendships. I will use the "Buddy Bench" book to introduce the bench and its purpose to students at the beginning of each year. This buddy bench will create a positive and safe space for students of all ages and grades to find friends and solve problems safely while at recess.
