As a special education math teacher, I am a firm believer that students learn more from doing than from math problems on a worksheet. My classroom is geared toward hands-on learning. I want to give my students more opportunities than I can afford. Perfect squares and perfect cubes are part of our 8th grade curriculum, and it is very abstract to students. Students will be able to build concrete models of perfect squares using wood tiles and perfect cubes using wood cubes. This hands-on application will allow them to make necessary connections in critical thinking and problem solving. These are two critical skills lacking with today's children. I am seeking your help in giving my students this kinesthetic opportunity. Thank you for your consideration.
