Many students in my school never dream of a future beyond their everyday lives and what is familiar to them. There are experiences and places in the world that they might never see; careers that may not yet exist; dreams they don't know they can have. Virtual reality will expose them to new experiences and knowledge while sitting in a chair in the school library. Virtual reality would expose students to new, exciting and developing technologies and provide alternative learning experiences. You never know what might inspire a student to reach beyond the known and imagine a future where anything is possible; what if? I am in the process of creating a Maker Space in the library where students may challenge themselves through problem solving and critical thinking activities. Virtual reality headsets are a step in that direction by promoting curiosity and creativity and providing alternative learning experiences.
