In my school, many of the students are truant. I believe that since technology is such a huge part of our lives now, having the Chromebooks will help to re-engage my students. They will be able to actively research, just like a historian, and take ownership over their own learning. I believe that having the Chromebooks in the classroom will make coming to class more appealing and interactive. The technology will be able to grab the students attention, which will lead to an increase in attendance and a decrease in the truancy at my school. Having Chromebooks will also help prepare my students for projects that will occur across multiple classes. When they are assigned a large research or writing project, they will already have the skills necessary to be successful, because I was able to help them build those skills by using the Chromebooks on a daily basis. Many of my students feel overwhelmed when it comes to large projects. Because of this, often times students stop coming to school, and end up failing their classes. If I had the Chromebooks, I would be able to get the students to feel comfortable with researching on the computer. I would be able to help them build those skills, so that when it comes time to complete a project, they remain engaged and confident. The confidence that they will have in their technology and research skills, will carry over into their other classes, and into their life after graduation.
