We use Balanced Literacy in our class which means each student has their own book which is at their level. As a result, we need high-interest titles with quality writing. The kids are motivated and self-starters. As their teacher, I model the habits of good reading - building stamina, having a dialog with the characters, paying attention to when I am confused, and sharing parts I love with my neighbor. Come in and see our brows furrowed and mouths agape and chins on fingers...nothing keeps us out of the good books. We just need them!
