Technology is a great resource for students to hone in on students' 21st century skills as well as have adaptive learning as a supplemental resource for students. Our third graders will get the opportunity to use these Chromebooks for research, projects and as a tool to build their understanding of all content areas. Students will be using Zearn and Freckle as a supplement for math. For our math block, students will be engaging in their lesson the first time with computer time, as well as be in small groups with me the second time. With writing, third grade will building their computer skills by typing their essays and researching content for their opinion writing. This will help build their skills for the state test, which is done all online. With my English Language Learners, they can use Google Translate or Raz Kids to help build their English. Currently, I have inherited 6 laptops and 2 borrowed ones for my 24 students. I would like to return borrowed laptops and have at least 12 laptops for my students. My goal is to get 12 by the end of the school year. This way, students can get to have more access to the online activities or research if they didn't get a chance to earlier. I am excited for this new school year, as a first time third grade teacher and look forward to the year ahead. Thanks for any amount of donation or sharing the cause.
